PATTERN NOTES

Skill Level – Beginner/Easy

Measurements – Customizable/Adult Medium/Large. This hat fits an adult-sized head that is 21-23″. The finished hat is approx. 20″ around by 12″ unfolded.

This pattern follows US crochet terms.

This is a general adult-size beanie. The chain will equal the desired length of the hat and the rows will equal the size around. Add chains for a slouchier look and be sure the length of the rows fits around your head comfortably before joining the sides together!

Easy Ribbed Beanie Crochet Pattern

R1: CH 47, HDC into each ST starting from the second CH from the hook, turn.

R2: CH 1, HDC BLO 46 starting from the first ST from the hook, turn.

R3-44: Repeat R2 until R44 or until the long side of the rectangle fits comfortably around your head.

Joining the Sides: To join the sides of the hat together, fold the rectangle in half and SL each loop of the first row with the back loop of the last row, tie off.

Gathering the End: Taking your tapestry needle, attach a length of yarn to one end of the hat. This will become the gathered top of the beanie. Weave the yarn through the edge loops of the hat, skipping every few loops and pull gently to close up the end.

Once you’ve woven through the entire edge of the top of the hat and pulled the end closed, tie off and weave in any visible yarn ends. Now all that’s left to do is fold up the brim of your new beanie and enjoy!
